Mathematics
At Springfield, our vision is for our pupils to be confident mathematicians who enjoy their learning. We believe in providing the children with a firm understanding of mathematical concepts using concrete resources as well as models and images. Once the children are fluent with a concept, they deepen their learning through application, reasoning and problem solving.
To support our children on their Mathematical journey we use White Rose Maths as a tool to enable our children to become independent and resilient learners, which is an important skill for lifelong learning. When the children are faced with a demanding task, they are encouraged to have the confidence and independence to persevere. The children are able to earn a certificate to show Growth Mindset Maths skills.
Please take a look at the linked documents below, which show some of the aspects the children are taught in each year group. You may also find the calculation policy useful, as it shows you which methods are used to teach the children addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
