World Book Day 2019
On Thursday 7th March, the whole school celebrated World Book Day and rekindled a love of reading. In Year Six, not only did the children enjoy dressing up as memorable book characters, but they also enjoyed taking inspiration from various authors about how to go about writing stories.
Please take a moment to admire the huge array of wonderful costumes and creations in the photos below...and for more information about World Book Day, click on the link:
Finally, just a reminder that the Book Fair will be arriving in school on Monday 25th March, where the children will be able to use their £1 Book Tokens to put towards the cost of a new book.
Christmas Reflection Symmetry
As part of our learning, and looking at reflection symmetry within two-dimensional shapes, Year Six created some Christmas cards for loved ones at home. Here's just a selection to look at. I'm sure you'll agree that they look fantastically festive!
AUTUMN TERM - STUNNING START
During the first week back in school, we launched our new topic (The Mayans) with a Stunning Start. The children were shown a 'Top Secret' video message from The Doctor...we can't say more than that, I'm afraid. But, to cut a long story short, the children needed to create a time machine that The Doctor could use to travel back in time, as his machine (the TARDIS) had been damaged. The children learnt about cam mechanisms, designed their time machines and then created them, applying finishing touches at the end of the week.
Feel free to have a look at some of the pictures - as I'm sure you'll agree, we think the children did a fantastic job!!
