Week Seven, Autumn two

Nursery have been very busy this week practising their independent cutting skills, they have also been recalling shape facts as they make festive pictures, as well as playing a Christmas lotto game matching up the pictures on their board.

On Thursday we had a Christmas party, showing our best dance moves, playing games and having some lovely party food. We even had a visit from Santa himself!

Thank you Children and parents for a great Autumn term! The Nursery team wish you all a very Merry Christmas and happy new year!

Week six Autumn two

This week the festive activities have continued in nursery as children have used tweezers to decorate a christmas tree and developed their cutting skills to cut out pictures and create a list for Father Christmas.

In maths the children have looked at different patterns copying a friend building a tower, finishing a simple pattern and even having a go at creating their own pattern.

In phonics we have learnt about things begining with "n" and sang the rhyme "Round and round the garden."

We finished the week with our Christmas jumper day and a very fun 'Santa dash' where the children ran all the way around the school!

Week five Autumn two

The Children have enjoyed reading The Gingerbread Man story this week, decorating a biscuit and then using different materials to decorate a gingerbraed man to use in role play. The children have been counting in maths through rhymes and pictures. We have discussed matching the amount of objects to the correct number. In phonics we have sand "Mary, Mary quite contrary" and listend for words beginning with i.

Nursery rhymes that are taught in school can be found in the helping at home folder.

Week four Autumn two

This week, Christmas has come to the Nursery. The children have enjoyed their new reading area, independently looking through books and cuddling up to a teddy. They have also enjoyed the puppets, beginning to make up their own stories and role plays.

We have learnt about the very first Christmas and been busy preparing for our Christmas craft session next week.

The children have also been practicing their positional language using small world resources.

In maths the children have been representing numbers 1-3 in different ways using their fingers. How many different ways can they show you?

Our sound this week was "t" the children have found items around the nursery starting with this sound. We made up a story "They got a ticket, went on a train along a track, passed a tree, through a tunnel and saw ten tigers!"

Week two Autumn two.

This week, the nursery children have been developing their communication and language skills, along with their personal, social and emotional development. Based on the story Ruby's worry, we have been encouraging children to talk to each other and staff about how they are feeling. For Ruby her worry got smaller when she talked about it.  For Remembrance Day, they made beautiful poppies to honour the soldiers. As part of anti bullying week, the children designed their own unique sock patterns, embracing the importance of celebrating our differences. To end the week on a high note, we joined in with Children in Need fun on Friday, enjoying themed activities like a Pudsey spaghetti tuff tray! Thank you for your donations.

Week one Autumn two.

We hope you all had a fantastic half term! Nursery have been enjoying learning about Diwali and Bonfire Night. The children created some firework pictures and learning about what happens when we mix colours. Mrs Aarti had celebtrated Diwali and she shared with the children what happens in preperation and on the day.

The children learned how to be safe on bonfire night and made some bonfires using sticks and leaves. We created a firework display in the style of Jackson Pollock flicking the paint from the brush.

We all tried joining in with repeated refrains in stories as we read Aaaarrgghh spider book. The children enjoyed saying "Aaaarrgghh spider out you go!"

The children looked at other stories that contained repeated refrains in them, such as Owl Babies, and had a really good go and joining in. Well-done Nursery!
