Friday 27th March

Something a bit different today!

Poetry - The Highway Man

Listen to and read the poem - The Highway Man by Alfred Noyes.  This is a very famous classic poem.  It is a story about the Highwayman and his love for Bess the landlord's daughter.

Answer the comprehension questions about the poem.

If you still need something extra to do, you could use the VIPERS opener to start a story of your own about the picture.

Thursday 26th March

Your task today is to use the research you did yesterday about Robin Hood to create a for and against list to answer the question:

Was Robin Hood Real?

For:  Yes because there are church records which prove that Robin Hood existed.  He married someone called Marion.  Church records are an accurate and legal record.

Against:  No because all the evidence is contradictory.  Robin's name is spelt several different ways.  Sometimes he is called Robert Hod  This suggests it isn't the same person that we know in the legend.

Try to think of 3 fors  and 3 againsts.

Use this list to then write a balanced argument which answers the question:

Was Robin Hood Real?

Writing another balanceed argument helps to practice these skills.  Try to write this one without accessing the Wagoll.  Use the features from the year 6 checklist.

A good idea for the features to be added to our page.

You can use this then to self assess the quality of your written work.
