Week six Autumn one.
This week in Reception, we’ve been exploring patterns through fun activities like sorting, sequencing, and scarf designs. The children also enjoyed getting creative by making beautiful Autumn wreaths, using leaves and other natural materials to celebrate the changing season. We also took time to acknowledge Mental Health Day, helping children understand emotions with emotion jigsaws and discussing different feelings. Our smiles certainly filled the room with positivity!
Week five Autumn one.
In Reception, the children have been thoroughly enjoying our autumnal activities! We've had a fantastic time exploring the season through creative crafts, using vibrant autumn colors to make leaf collages and woodland animal art. The children have also loved discussing the changes in the weather, noticing how the cooler air and falling leaves signal the arrival of autumn. Alongside this, we’ve been practising our kinetic letter poses, helping to build strong foundations for handwriting. It’s been a wonderful start to the term, full of creativity, learning, and plenty of fun as we embrace the new season! If you take your child on any walks, please feel free to collect any conkers and pinecones you may find along the way for us to explore in class.
Week four Autumn one.
Our reception children have enjoyed looking at their baby pictures this week and comparing similarities and differences. We also discussed our families and created drawings to represent our houses. In phonics, we have learnt the sounds i,n,m,d and began oral blending which will help the children decode sounds to read words. We will begin to send home a reading for pleasure book every Thursday, please can we encourage you to read with your child and write a comment in their reading diary? Thankyou for all your support.
Week Three Autumn One.
Our reception children have amazed us with their super phonics skills this week! We learnt s, a, t, and p. They have also been introduced to our class snails and took great care of them. Outside, we let out our artistic streak and had a go at some still life drawings using sunflowers, we even planted one in the woodland area to attract the birds. Thankyou for bringing in your baby photos, we look forward to sharing them with the children soon. If you haven't yet sent a picture to us, please can you do so next week?
Week Two Autumn One.
A massive well done to all the new Reception children for a fantastic first week! We are amazed at how well the children have settled into their new classes.
Thank you parents, for your continued support and patience as we get to know you all. We are very much looking forward to working with you throughout the next year and really value positive parent partnerships which are so important as we work together to support the children.
As a reminder, please can you make sure that all items of uniform, as well as coats and bags, are clearly labelled with your child's name and please continue to pre-order your school meals each day.
Hope you have all had a fantastic weekend and are looking forward to another great week in Reception.
