    Early Reading

    In early years and KS1 the children bring home 2 home readers.  The first is A Book I Can Read.  This book is matched closely to your child's phonics knowledge.  This is from the Little Wandle Phonics Scheme.  This is a book your children has already read and practised in school.  They will bring this book home on Wednesday to be returned on Friday.  The second is A Book To Share.  This book may have some words which your child may find difficult and they may need support to decode.

    Progression Through Reading

    Once your child has passed the phonics screening at the end of year 1 they will then continue to progress through the Little Wandle Reading Fluency Scheme.  Following this, the children will choose a home reader to enjoy from the wide range of reading materials we have in school.
