Year 4 Science Experiment - The Digestive System (Making Poo)
As part of Year 4s Science Topic (Eating and Digestion) the children have explored how the digestive system works with a fun practical experiment. We first had to mush up the bread, crackers, water and vinegar; this acted as the stomach. We then transferred the mixture into a pair of tights and squeezed; this represented the muscles in the small intestine contracting to move the food down the body. Once the excess moisture and liquid had been removed, we cut a small hole to release it from the anus as faeces. This was definitely a messy but fun activity which the children loved taking part in!
