School Clubs

Information regarding School Clubs available to your child will be emailed to you.

Opportunities to join a variety of clubs are shared between classes throughout the school year.

Springfield Primary School Choir with Mr Billingham

 

In the Autumn and Spring terms, Mr Billingham (with the help of Mrs Etherington-Yorke, Mrs Webb and Mrs Hemingbrough) leads the KS2 Springfield Primary School Choir. The choir is open to all children to apply and, if successful, your child will attend weekly practises every Wednesday after school until 4.15pm. The children will learn a variety of songs to then, ultimately, perform in the Young Voices concert at the end of February. For further information, please contact the school office. 

History Club for Year 5 and 6 with Miss Chirrimar

After school clubs with The West Bromwich Albion Foundation.

 

Every half term there is a variety of after school clubs provided for children in KS1 and KS2 to take part in. Letters about the upcoming clubs and how to take part in these clubs will be emailed to parents. So far this year we have provided the following clubs: Gymnastics, Athletics, Dodgeball, Multi Sports, Tag Rugby and Football. 

Gymnastics Club with Mrs O'Hara and Miss Booker

 

Children in Year 5 and 6 who identify as girls were given the opporuntity to take part in a weekly gymnastics session with Mrs O'Hara and Miss Booker. The children have used different gymnastics apparatus including: climbing ropes and bars. They have learnt a range of new skills such as: forwards and backwards walkovers, rounds offs and headstands.The group also how to learnt how to vault and developed control when jumping and landing from a range of heights. 

Springfield Primary School Football Team with Mr Taylor and Mr Etherington-Yorke

 

Springfield Primary School is entered into the Sandwell Primary School football league where they compete against different schools within the local authority, where possible the team will play both home and away fixtures. There is also opporuntities for the team to compete in other competitions which have been partnered with the Black Country Games and the EFL. 

Dance Club with Mrs Hemingbrough

 

Children in KS2 dance group take part in a weekly session with our qualified dance teacher Miss Hemingbrough. In these sessions the group work with towards learning a variety of choreographed dance routines which they will use to compete in a range of dance competitons throughout the course of the school year. 

Chess Club with Mr Jeffs 

 

Children in KS2 have a weekly session after school with Mr Jeffs where they learn rules and strategies to play chess. The children develop tactical thinking, descision making and problem solving skills. 

School Games and Black Country Games Competitions

 

Springfield Primary School is registered with the School Games Organisation. This enables the school to take part in a variety of festivals and competitions. Reaching certains stages of some of these competitions would qualify Springfield to take part in the Black Country Games later in the school year and represent Sandwell. Some of the competitions and festivals we have entered so far include: Football for Year 1/2 and Year 5/6; Dodgeball for Y3/4 and Tag Rugby for Y5/6.
