Year 4 Play

The Year Four Play: The Anglo Saxons

On Thursday 12th February, Year Four performed their play, which was based on the Anglo-Saxons. The performance opened with how the various migrants from northern Europe first settled in England, before our Fact Readers moving on to explaining how society was organised in Anglo-Saxon England. Then the ‘Dudes from the Dark Ages’ rap group, dancers and actors helped to retell the traditional story of Beowulf (which is the whole-class text in our English lessons). Alfred the Great, soldiers and other characters made an appearance throughout the show, while some children from both 4A and 4B perfectly performed solo slots in the main songs.

The children had a huge amount of fun performing to their parents and carers, learning so much about the Anglo-Saxons in the process. Thank you to all of you parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters and any other family members for helping the children to learn their lines, raps and dance routines in preparation for the play. Finally, a huge thank you to Mrs Hemingbrough for her support with choreography, as well as Miss Webb, Mrs Barker and Miss Kaur for their help with props and costumes - we are very grateful!
