Week four Spring two.
On Monday we had a fantastic time celebrating St. Patrick’s Day! The children enjoyed decorating shamrocks and even had a go at learning some Irish dancing. We have also been making the most of the sunshine so we practiced number bonds to ten using hopscotch and beanbag throwing. On Friday, we had lots of activities to do for Comic Relief and had important discussions about the charity’s work and why helping others is so important. We loved seeing the children's fun outfits!
Week three Spring two.
Our Owls and Ducklings have learning the traditonal tale of Jack and the Beanstalk during talk for writing which sparked their curiosity about how things grow. The children have been carefully observing the beans we are growing, watching for the first signs of shoots and leaves! We are also excited to share that our new outdoor equipment has been a big hit! The children have loved exploring and using it during spread your wings. A big thank you to all the parents who attended our final workshop of the year, we truly appreciate your support and involvement in your children's learning journey.

We had a fantastic week filled with celebrations! On Tuesday, we celebrated Pancake Day by learning a new song and exploring the meaning of Lent. The children also enjoyed delicious pancakes at lunchtime! On Thursday, we celebrated World Book Day in style! The children arrived in some incredible costumes, bringing their favourite book characters to life. We had an exciting visit from The Masked Reader, got creative making bookmarks and had wonderful discussions about our favourite books. Week one Spring two.
Reception have had a busy week back! The children enjoyed sharing their half-term news with their friends and settling back into school life. We had a special visit from the nurses who taught us all about the importance of handwashing and toothbrushing. All the children loved getting involved and learning how to keep their hands and teeth healthy. In talk for writing, we have been reading We’re Going on a Bear Hunt and created our own maps to go on our very own bear hunt adventure! Its been a great start to the term and we can’t wait for more fun and learning ahead.

This week, our Owls and Ducklings have been feeling the love in celebration of Valentine’s Day! We’ve been busy discussing the people we love and creating a variety of fun, heart-filled crafts. The children also learnt a new song, here is the link if you would like to sing it at home - Bing Videos
In addition, we celebrated Internet Safety Day on Tuesday by reading Old McDonald Had a Phone and #Goldilocks. These engaging stories helped spark a conversation about the importance of staying safe and what we mean by the word 'online'. We hope you all have a lovely half term break!
Week five Spring one.
Our new traditional tale focus is Goldilocks and the Three Bears! The children have been exploring the story creatively, using printing and collaging techniques to make their own bears. We've also learned a fun new song based on Goldilocks, bringing the story to life through music. As part of Children’s Mental Health Week, we had important discussions about what mental health is and ways to look after our well-being. The children explored mindfulness strategies and often enjoy using Meditation Monkey in class to help them feel calm and focused. Here is the link if you would like to practice this at home.
On Friday we celebrated number day and enjoyed loads of fun packed maths activities along with some amazing dressing up!
Week four Spring one.
This week, owls and ducklings have been learning all about Chinese New Year! They worked together to create a colourful dragon which they proudly displayed while dancing outside with ribbons. In our kinetic letters sessions, we focused on the digraph "ch" for China, helping to develop early writing skills in a fun and meaningful way. To end the week, we enjoyed baking and decorating delicious gingerbread men.
Week three Spring one.
This week, we have started our guided reading sessions. The children have enjoyed engaging in new texts and spotting the sounds they have learnt in phonics. We have also focused on the traditional tale of The Gingerbread Man. The children have engaged enthusiastically with the story, bringing it to life by creating their own maps of the outdoor area. This activity helped them develop their storytelling and mapping skills while having lots of fun! To practice our letter formation, the children have written lots of words and sentences inspired by The Gingerbread Man too.

Firstly, we would like to say a big thank you to all the parents who attended our maths workshops. Your support and involvement mean so much to us and the children!
This week, the children had a fantastic time exploring the ice we discovered in the woodland, sparking curiosity and excitement about the changing seasons. They also enjoyed making bread, just like the Little Red Hen! In our Talk for Writing sessions, we reimagined The Little Red Hen by changing the characters, the children came up with some truly brilliant and creative ideas!

What an exciting start to the new term for Reception! This week, the children have enjoyed sharing all the wonderful things they did over the school holidays, its been lovely hearing their stories and seeing their enthusiasm. We’ve also began our Talk for Writing journey with a focus on the classic tale The Little Red Hen. The children are already engaging well with the story and join in with the actions. In addition, we’ve introduced our focus artist for this half term: Yayoi Kusama. The children have been fascinated by her vibrant artwork featuring polka dots and they’ve began creating their own pieces inspired by her unique style.

Owls and Ducklings have had a busy week! They’ve been hard at work creating beautiful Christmas cards and calendars. We also had a fantastic time at our Christmas party where we danced, played games like pass the parcel and shared lots of laughter and fun together. Santa even wrote a letter to praise the children for their hard work this Autumn term! We would like to wish all our families a restful and relaxing break. May your holiday season be filled with happiness and we look forward to seeing everyone in the New Year.

The children have been super busy this week as we dive into the festive season! They have put their creativity to work making beautiful Christmas crafts and their excitement and effort has been wonderful to see. We are also incredibly proud of their fantastic performance of Hey Ewe! Their hard work and enthusiasm truly shone through. Adding to the festive fun, we particiapted in Santa Dash around the school! The children ran super fast, showed great listening skills and followed instructions. In addition to all the festive fun, we’ve been learning about the wonders of the night sky. The children explored fascinating facts about stars to create our own star fact file.

Week five Autumn two.
Our Reception children have been spreading Christmas cheer as they helped to decorate our classroom with festive decorations! They’ve also been busy rehearsing for our Hey Ewe performance, we can't wait to share this magical performance with you next week. It’s going to be a festive treat you won’t want to miss! In addition, inspired by our story of the week, The Magical Snow Garden, the children have created a beautiful snow scene that captures the wonder and creativity of the story.

This week we enjoyed reading Stick Man which inspired lots of creativity! The children had fun representing Stick Man using a variety of craft materials and they also worked on drawing their own family trees. It was a wonderful way to explore family connections. We would also like to extend a big thank you to all the parents who attended our phonics workshop. Your support and engagement make such a positive difference.

This week, our story of the week was 'Can’t You Sleep, Little Bear?', which explores the comforting power of light in the darkness. To bring this theme to life, the children created their own dens and caves, immersing themselves in the contrasts of light and dark just like Little Bear and Big Bear in the story. The excitement didn’t stop there! Inside, we worked together to build imaginative snow structures and discussed the concept of melting and freezing. The children were thrilled to see the snow fall down from our classroom window.

This week, owls and ducklings have been busy with activities that promote creativity, kindness, and community awareness. For Remembrance Day, they made beautiful poppies to honour the soldiers. As part of anti bullying week, the children designed their own unique sock patterns, embracing the importance of celebrating our differences. To end the week on a high note, we joined in with Children in Need fun on Friday, enjoying themed activities like a Pudsey spaghetti tuff tray! Thankyou for your donations.

We hope you all had a fantastic half term! Owls and ducklings have been enjoying learning about Diwali and Bonfire Night. The children have been captivated by the colors and stories behind these celebrations, and they've been creating beautiful Rangoli patterns, using vibrant colors and shapes inspired by traditional designs. Our focus artist for this half-term is Wassily Kandinsky. The children have began to explore his work, particularly his use of color and abstract shapes.

This week, we have been having lots of fun learning about Halloween! The children have enjoyed creating spider web playdoh mats, decorating pumpkins, and even making their very own pumpkin soup. We would also like to say a big thank you to all of you who attended the dough disco workshop. Your participation means so much to us and contributes to your child’s learning experience. We wish you all a wonderful and restful half-term break!

What a wonderful week it’s been in Reception! The children enjoyed stick weaving in the woodland to help develop their fine motor skills. We’ve been learning all about people who help us, with a particular focus on dentists and how they keep our teeth healthy. A huge thank you to all the parents for attending parents' evening. It was great to discuss your child’s progress and share their achievements with you. We appreciate your continued support.

This week in Reception, we’ve been exploring patterns through fun activities like sorting, sequencing, and scarf designs. The children also enjoyed getting creative by making beautiful Autumn wreaths, using leaves and other natural materials to celebrate the changing season. We also took time to acknowledge Mental Health Day, helping children understand emotions with emotion jigsaws and discussing different feelings. Our smiles certainly filled the room with positivity!

In Reception, the children have been thoroughly enjoying our autumnal activities! We've had a fantastic time exploring the season through creative crafts, using vibrant autumn colors to make leaf collages and woodland animal art. The children have also loved discussing the changes in the weather, noticing how the cooler air and falling leaves signal the arrival of autumn. Alongside this, we’ve been practising our kinetic letter poses, helping to build strong foundations for handwriting. It’s been a wonderful start to the term, full of creativity, learning, and plenty of fun as we embrace the new season! If you take your child on any walks, please feel free to collect any conkers and pinecones you may find along the way for us to explore in class.

Our reception children have enjoyed looking at their baby pictures this week and comparing similarities and differences. We also discussed our families and created drawings to represent our houses. In phonics, we have learnt the sounds i,n,m,d and began oral blending which will help the children decode sounds to read words. We will begin to send home a reading for pleasure book every Thursday, please can we encourage you to read with your child and write a comment in their reading diary? Thankyou for all your support.
Week Three Autumn One.
Our reception children have amazed us with their super phonics skills this week! We learnt s, a, t, and p. They have also been introduced to our class snails and took great care of them. Outside, we let out our artistic streak and had a go at some still life drawings using sunflowers, we even planted one in the woodland area to attract the birds. Thankyou for bringing in your baby photos, we look forward to sharing them with the children soon. If you haven't yet sent a picture to us, please can you do so next week?
